Hey everyone !!
So Winters are officially here and it's really chilly over the north . For many people the cold clear days of winter bring more than just a rosy glow to the cheeks. They also bring uncomfortable dryness to the skin of the face hands and feet. So I have listed a few tips which can help combat these winters like a pro.
- Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize
The first and foremost thing would be to moisturize your skin . You may have found a moisturizer that works just fine in spring and summer. But as weather conditions change, so, too, should your skin care routine. Find an "ointment" moisturizer that's oil-based, rather than water-based, as the oil will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than a cream or lotion. Many lotions labeled as "night creams" are oil-based. But choose your oils with care because not all oils are appropriate for the face. Instead, look for "non clogging" oils, like avocado oil, mineral oil, primrose oil, or almond oil. Shea oil -- or butter -- is controversial, because it can clog facial pores.
No, sunscreen isn't just for summertime. Winter sun - combined with cold glare - can still damage your skin. Try applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your face and your hands (if they're exposed) about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply frequently if you stay outside a long time.
- Lips needs some extra care
Apply a moisturizing lip balm when you are doing the rest of your skin care, make it part of your routine. As well as this, before you go outside apply some Vaseline/petroleum jelly to your lips as this creates a protective barrier between the cold air and your lips, locking in moisture (remember that Vaseline isn't actually moisturizing, it's only protective, so use another lip balm alongside it).
- Bathe with lukewarm water
Winter is the time when your skin and hair need maximum attention. Though the idea of piping hot water is very tempting, stick to a lukewarm water bath every day. Make sure you use a mild non-drying soap or a moisturizing soap to prevent your skin from getting dry and itchy.
Rough dead cells sitting on the surface of the skin just get in the way of your moisturizer's absorption , so exfoliate the skin with a sugar scrub and warm water once in a week. Very gentle, regular exfoliation lifts away these dead cells at the surface, to reveal the healthy skin underneath. Not only will this lead to brighter skin, but it will also be more comfortable, absorb your products better, and look much smoother under make-up.
- Eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated
Eating a healthy diet full of nutrients and vitamins is the best way to keep your hair and skin from looking and feeling healthy. It's also important to drink enough water to keep your skin and hair hydrated from within. Eating an unbalanced diet will leave your body lacking in the nutrition needed for keeping your skin and hair looking great. Eating well will also make you feel great too! If you have trouble with maintaining a balanced diet then take multivitamins, but remember that this is not an effective replacement for the real thing.
Cracked heels are one of the major problems of individuals during the winter season. Along with the chapped lips and dry skin, cracked heals also creates problem for people. Application of any shortening or a vegetable oil need to be done on the feet after washing them properly. As you massaged your feet with the oil, wear a pair of thick socks. Following this remedy for few days can surely offer you positive results.
